LODD: CAL FIRE Engineer/Paramedic Christopher Douglas
CDF Firefighters Local 2881 is saddened to announce the loss of one of their own in the line of duty.
CAL FIRE Engineer/Paramedic Christopher Douglas was fatally injured this morning after being hit by a car while working along eastbound Interstate 10 in the Thousand Palms area of Riverside County.
The CAL FIRE / Riverside County Fire Department fire engine was on Interstate 10 near Monterey Ave, when Douglas was struck by a passing vehicle.
Brother Douglas, 41, was an eight-year veteran of CAL FIRE. A Colorado Springs native, Douglas served in the United States Air Force before going to work for CAL FIRE.
He's survived by his wife, Amy, their two-year-old son. His wife was also expecting their second child.

The Douglas family celebrated Christopher’s life with full fire department honors on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 3:00 pm at The Bridge Church in Murrieta (38801 Calistoga Drive).
