LODD: Pinole Fire Captain Rich Voisey
United Professional Firefighters of Contra Costa County, Local 1230 is saddened to announce the passing of Fire Captain Rich Voisey (ret.) who died Wednesday after a two-year battle with job-related brain cancer.
Brother Voisey spent his entire fire service career with the Pinole Fire Department, where he served as a reserve and fulltime firefighter for over 30 years.
Members of Local 1230 will remember Voisey not only for his steadfast commitment to the profession, but also for his devotion to the labor movement. He spent 18 years on Local 1230’s Executive Board, during which time he was a strong advocate for firefighters across Contra Costa County. He also spent several years on the Contra Costa Labor Council, where he served as a champion of firefighter safety.
Voisey will also be remembered for his commitment to family. He was a great son to his parents, who both still reside in Pinole, and a supportive brother, husband and father to his three children.
