Captain Robert Aker succumbed to occupational cancer in September 2004 after a career with the LA City Fire Department. He was extremely involved with the union as the first Secretary of the United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, Local 112, and was committed to representing the interest of firefighters. He was a loyal union representative and fair fire department officer. Captain Aker is survived by his brother Phillip and stepdaughter Bronwen
