Joshua Bischof started as a volunteer firefighter when he was 17 years old and instantly fell in love with the career and helping others in their time of need. Chief Bischof worked his way through the ranks of CAL FIRE, promoting to Assistant Chief for CAL FIRE in 2023. Josh loved aviation, spending many years assigned to Helitack at the Hemet-Ryan Air Attack Base. He was an instructor on several teaching cadres and a valued member of California Incident Management Team 4. Josh made the most of life – camping, traveling, snowboarding, mountain biking, flying, and finding any excuse to spend quality time with his two children and wife of over 24 years.
