A 31-year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department, Jerome Anthony Boyd’s desire to help others led him to a career in the fire service. While serving the City of Los Angeles, Jerome rose through the ranks to battalion chief and, at the time of his death, served as the Commander of the Public Safety Section. Jerome loved live music, roller skating and playing dominoes with his friends. In 2012, Jerome was honored by President Barack Obama for successfully ensuring the safe landing and takeoff of Air Force One. Jerome suffered from a medical emergency while on duty and passed away at the age of 55. Chief Boyd is survived by his wife, Caroline, and their children Cherrele, Jerome, Justin and Corey.
