Matthew Brabo
Rank: Captain
Department: CAL FIRE
Deceased: February 01, 2022
As a little boy, Matthew ‘Matt’ Brabo knew he wanted to be a firefighter and began his career in 2001 as a Firefighter I in the Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit (NEU) with CAL FIRE. He embodied the finest qualities of a true Fire Captain and served the citizens of California with honor and distinction for over 20 years. Matthew was appointed Fire Captain in 2016, taking a position with the CAL FIRE Training Center in Ione, where he continued his service until his passing. He enjoyed being outdoors and duck hunting, but his priority was his family. Matthew passed away from a job-related illness in February of 2022. Matthew is survived by his wife and two daughters.
