Scott Carnevale was a dedicated father and husband and an avid adventurer and outdoorsman. He was loved and respected by his colleagues, friends and family for his calm, integrity, dedication and dependability. Scott came to the Alameda Fire Department in 1997 and rose from driver to captain. He served on the department's fire labor management team and was an executive board trustee and shift vice president for the Alameda City Firefighters Association. Scott also spearheaded a successful effort to get Alameda firefighters to report chemicals and other hazards they are exposed to during calls, before he succumbed to occupational cancer.
