Captain Gibbs, "Denny" as family and friends called him, passed away in January 2003 after loosing his two-year battle with job-related cancer. Brother Gibbs served with the Los Angeles County Fire Department for 29 years, serving the last 10 years with their Hazardous Materials Response Unit. He loved being a firefighter and often said it was the best thing that could have happened to him. He passed that love onto his son Gary and grandson Danny, who also serve with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Brother Gibbs left behind his wife Donna and two children Lynn and Gary.
