Crystal Golden-Jefferson
Department: Los Angeles County
Deceased: July 20, 2005
Crystal was always so full of energy, always on the go and enjoyed an active lifestyle. Born in to a line of relatives who were firefighters, she started out as a fire explorer in her hometown in Illinois. After high school, the family moved to California and Crystal went off to Howard University with the intention of becoming a physician - but the passion to become a firefighter sent her back to California. With hard work, sweat, tears and an unrelenting determination, Crystal became a firefighter paramedic. She was one of the first African-American women in Southern California to become a firefighter. Crystal always brought the energy and positive outlook to the stations. She was a proud member of the Los Angeles County Stentorians. The Stentorians, fellow crewmembers and the residents she served each day will always remember Crystal's personal touch.
