John McRae Greeno

John Greeno began his career with the Forest Service in 1979 on the Inyo National Forest, and transferred to the Stanislaus National Forest in 1988. In 1993 he took the Assistant Helitack Superintendent position and was promoted to Helitack Superintendent in 2001. John was the recipient of many commendations for excellence in service, awards and honors over his 25 years in the Forest Service. His knowledge of aviation and fire and love of talking made him a natural for teaching others the "tricks of the trade." He became an accomplished instructor for the Forest Service at the local, regional and national levels. John loved the outdoors and golfed, fished and hunted whenever the time allowed. Brother Greeno leaves behind his wife Lori, and children Marcus and Montana.
