Karl Hegle served the citizens of San Bernadino County with honor and distinction for over 27 years. Karl loved the fire service and started his career in 1995 with California City Fire Department. He joined Upland FD in 2007, serving that community until Upland FD transitioned into the San Bernardino County FD in 2017. Karl also served as a flight paramedic, and a member of Los Angeles County Sheriff Search and Rescue as a reserve deputy. Karl was known for his positive and upbeat personality and always stated, “every day is a gift”. He passed away in November 2022 from job-related cancer. He is survived by his four children.
