Daniel K. Hoover-Najera
Department: USFS
Deceased: October 26, 2006
When Daniel Hoover-Najera signed on as a seasonal USFS firefighter in 2005, he was still in his teens and living his dream - riding a fire engine. Only one year out of high school, Danny had found his calling. When he wasn't fighting fires, Daniel worked at the Lowe's distribution center, kept up with his training and indulged his passion for skateboarding. Barely twenty years old and with his life still ahead of him, Daniel Hoover-Najera and four of his brothers made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting the Esperanza Fire.
