Edward Levirgil Andrews, IV
Department: Redding
Deceased: May 14, 2007
A 21-year Redding veteran, Ed Andrews wore many hats. He was a teacher (fire instructor at two colleges), a cop (one-time law enforcement officer for Whiskeytown National Parks Service) and a coach (with the Redding Little League, whose field was one of many he helped build). But with all the hats, the fire helmet was still the most comfortable fit, and throughout his career, he shared his skill, his wisdom and his love for the fire service. When Captain Andrews fell during physical training for fire season, he was the first line-of-duty death in Redding's history.
