From an early age, Thomas "TJ" Marovich wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up. At 14, he joined the Fremont Fire Department's Explorer Porgram and was certified as an EMT at 16. His dream finally came true when he was hired as an apprentice with the U.S. Forest Service in Mondoc County. Off duty, he volunteered with the Adin Fire Protection District, taught fire science at Mission Valley ROP, and was an advisor to the Fremont Fire Explorers. He will be remembered by friends and family as dedicated, dependable, passionate, and selfless. He sustained fatal injuries while performing a routine rappel profiency skill training from a helicopter. He was 20.
