Arthur Monroe Kruckman began his fire service career in 1963 with the Sonoma and Mendocino Ranger Units of CAL FIRE. Over the course of his career, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a captain and fire crew supervisor. To those who knew him best, Art will be remembered as a cool-headed, dedicated, caring fireman who eventually gave his life to protect the citizens of California. He loved the outdoors, spending time camping, traveling and working on his twenty acres in northern Idaho. Art is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean, and their daughter and son. He died in 2016 after a battle with job-related cancer.
