James Douglas LeMoine
Department: Alameda County
Deceased: November 09, 2000
Following in the footsteps of his father, James LeMoine was inspired to continue his family's legacy of firefighters. Known affectionately as "Big Jim," he created Alameda County's first water rescue program. In turn, his colleagues returned the favor by naming one of their fire boats "The Big Jim LeMoine." Similar to his father, the stress of the job took a toll on James LeMoine and at the age of 53, he too succumbed to job-related heart issues.
