As a firefighter, Eucharistic minister, U.S. Army veteran and devoted family man, Joe Luna touched many lives. He began his career with the Ventura County Fire Department, managing a hand crew and worked as a firefighter in Rincon, Oak View and Port Hueneme. He also served in the public information office during high-profile incidents including the La Conchita landslide of 2005, the Simi fire of 2003 and the Alaska Airlines Flight 261 crash in 2000. He leaves behind his wife, Terri, and three grown children, Jessica, Eric and Joseph, a proud member of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
