Scott Lynn, known by the nickname Rhino, had a lifetime of love for wildland firefighting. A native of Silverado Canyon, he began with the US Forest Service as a "hot shot" firefighter with the El Cariso Hot Shots. He later joined the Orange County Fire Department as a paid call firefighter and was promoted to an engineer and lieutenant for San Onofre Fire Department. In 1988, Scott moved with his family to the Lake Tahoe Basin, accepting a firefighter position with Tahoe City Fire Protection District. He reached a lifetime career goal transferring to CAL FIRE as a captain in 2002. He died of a job-related heart attack at 53.
