Ryan Stewart Osler began his career in fire service as part of the hand crew before being hired as a firefighter and later being promoted to Engineer. Known affectionately as “Otter” by those who he worked with, Ryan was a firm believer in doing everything above 100 percent which was reflected by his work ethic and strong reputation within the department. He served the Ventura County Fire Department for 18 years before passing away. Ryan died in a line of duty accident in 2016 while assigned to the Canyon Fire in Santa Barbara County. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Jennifer, their two children, Amanda and Brandon; his mother, Cherie, and sisters Julie Collier and Jeanine Osler.
