Jim "Peet" Peterson said if he knew he would die of cancer from firefighting, he would still choose the profession. A 25-year firefighter/paramedic with Citrus Heights, Sacramento County, and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Distrct, Peet was known as a quiet, sneaky, compassionate, friendly, and hardworking firefighter, father, son, and husband. H was promoted to the position of captain in March 2008 while undergoing treatment for bladder cancer, but due to his illness, he did not get to sit in the captain's seat. He died of job related cancer.
