Brother Mark Pittenger began his career in the fire service as a volunteer with Foster City and then moved to the Menlo Park Fire Protection District in 1977. After training with the Stanford Pre-hospital Care Program and joining the Palo Alto Fire Department in 1986, Mark became certified as a paramedic. He served as an Engineer, Paramedic and Fire Inspector and the Treasurer of Palo Alto Firefighters, Local 1319. Mark was an avid golfer, a good friend, a dedicated father and loving husband. Brother Pittenger succumbed to cancer in October of 2003, leaving behind his wife Katherine and his children Daniel and Capri.
