A 23-year veteran of the fire service, Jeff Powers lived for his job and touched many lives along the way.  He began his career with the Tamalpais Fire Protection District (which later evolved into Souther Marin Fire Protection District) and served as captain and battalion chief before being named deputy chief in April of 2007.  He earned 16 Letter of Commendation during that time.  Off duty, he was a devoted husband and proud father to two sons.  He died of cardiac arrest while on duty.
