As a young boy, Kenneth Renz was fascinated by the TV series Emergency, which was based on a fictional fire station of the LA County Fire Department. In high school, he joined the very first LA County Fire Explorer Program. Kenny was hired as a sworn firefighter in 1986, in the 71st Recruit Class, and worked at numerous stations throughout his extensive career. He was so proud that his daughter chose a career in nursing and both sons followed in his footsteps to become firefighters for LA County. Kenny was at his happiest with his wife and dogs in his truck while towing a big fifth wheel behind them on their way to camp.
