Richard Scott Schwingel was hired as a firefighter/paramedic in 2001 with the City of Rialto, where he served with honor and distinction for the entirety of his 16-year career. Scott was promoted within the department to fire engineer in 2006, received the Rialto Fire Department Life Saving Award in 2016 and was the recipient of the Rialto fire department “Firefighter of the Year” Award in 2017. Outside of work, Scott loved NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers, camping, off-road racing and time spent with family. Scott passed away in January following a battle with job-related cancer. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Stephanie, their children, Robbie, Austin and Bella, and their grandson, Bryce.
