Oran Shadoan began his fire service career with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department in 1960 and was promoted to the rank of fire engineer in 1969. After 42 years of dedicated service to his community, he retired in 2002. He will be remembered by many for his unwavering commitment to his family, his exemplary skills as an engineer and his quiet and unassuming manner. Oran is survived by his wife, Olga, their two daughters and four sons. He died in 2004 due to complications from job-related pancreatic cancer at the age of 66.
