Ken Voss joined the Eureka Fire Department in 1974. After five years, the Voss family decided to move from Eureka and begin their own small business. In 1979 Ken grew tired of self-employment, longing to return to the fire service. Fortunately the Eureka Fire Department rehired him in 1983, where he finished his career before passing of occupational lung cancer in 2004. Brother Voss is survived by his wife of 37 years, Barbara, and their three children Joshua, Larissa and Jordan.
